You wake up in the morning, and the first thing you do is reach out to your cell phone, open social media apps, scroll through your feeds, view other people's lives, judging, comparing, and building mind patterns that could lead to dissatisfaction, anxiety, and even depression. So, what are we feeding our brains throughout our day?

How can we shift our thinking and view this reality differently? Firstly, we should understand that these platforms are built for communication, self-expression, and knowledge and they certainly have a positive impact if we are using them wisely.

However, multiple studies have found a strong link between heavy social media use and an increased risk of mental health issues. So, what's the impact? Many users tend to share the highlights of their lives and rarely the lows they experience, they manipulate images and show the best of their days which could make you feel insecure, not good enough about how you look or what's happening in your life, leaving you to feel bad about yourself and life. Yes, we get trapped in the maze of comparison, and many kids precisely could be victims of this and many other issues such as cyberbullying.

So how can we deal with the negative effects of social media on our mental health? Here are some tips based on personal experience, you might start by limiting your time on social media, and being mindful of what you see and hear. You should also question yourself, is this reality real? How is it affecting me and how can I change that? Additionally, you should take a break from the screen by practicing self-care activities such as meditation or exercise and focusing on your journey and progress instead of others. Lastly, let me say you're smarter than your smartphones, so don't let them control you. Reality is different, be cautious and remember to B Confident in acting in changing your reality.
